EXPERIENCE

Ling is a family law barrister who has appeared regularly in the family court since 2004.  Although her work has mainly been based in the family courts throughout Auckland, Ling has taken on a number of interesting and complex matters based in other courts spread throughout the North Island, including the Hamilton, Thames and Napier family courts.

Ling's work in family law focuses on what happens for families when there has been a separation.  Parents, and often extended family members, are needing to sort out arrangements relating to the care and their contact with children. There is often relationship property which needs to be divided.  Sometimes, one spouse/partner has been reliant on the other financially and some financial maintenance may therefore be required for a period of time.  

Where there are issues of domestic violence or serious concerns for the safety of a child, urgent applications to the Court may be required for protection or to secure care arrangements for children.

Ling has years of experience in assisting clients in the above situations. With clear and firm legal guidance, matters can be resolved by way of negotiation and agreement or, by progressing matters through to a defended hearing. Each client is listened to and treated with care and respect.
