EXPERIENCE

Anesha is an experienced barrister.

She commenced her career in Wellington at a top-tier firm and has practiced in South Auckland since 2011. Specialising in family and criminal law, Anesha has also acted in civil litigation matters. She appears most often in the Family and District Courts but has also represented clients in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Since joining Quadrant Chambers, Anesha continues to practice in all areas of family law and is often appointed to act for children in Family Court proceedings (Lawyer for Child). She has a particular interest in relationship property and the law relating to adults who have lost legal capacity to manage their personal care and property affairs.

Assisting families, particularly children, during a challenging and often vulnerable time is immensely important and satisfying to Anesha. Anesha knows that the legal issues she deals with are deeply personal to her clients and can have a lasting impact on day-to-day life. Even seemingly straight-forward issues can seem daunting. This area of the law is about more than winning or achieving a favourable outcome. Everyone deserves the ability to participate in the legal matters that affect them.

Whether through negotiation or court proceedings, Anesha is a pro-active, strong advocate for her clients to resolve matters as effectively as possible.

Anesha acts primarily for private clients however remains a lead provider of family legal aid. As family and criminal law often overlap, Anesha also takes instructions in criminal matters for private clients.

She is a member of the Family Law Section, NZ Bar Association, Auckland District Law Society and New Zealand Law Society.
